Hi! I'm Alfa Kaba.....What High School did you attend? I attended Evanston Township High School and played football. I was on the varsity team since I was a fresh, and was in the top 100 players of the class of 2007. Where did you go to college? I attended West Virginia University from 2007-2011. But I was recruited by Northern Illinois, Iowa State, Ball State, Central Michigan, Michigan State, and some others. I graduated from undergrad in 2011, but I also attended Northwestern University for my masters in 2016. I did not end up playing in college due to injuries. I had a severe labrum tear in my right shoulder that was not fixed until late senior year in high school. But I was being recruited as a linebacker/outside safety. What was your major? I majored in sports management and business, and Mastered in Sports Administration. Sports have been my passion since I was young, and as I grew I knew I wanted to be involved in the sports industry at any capacity. Describe your sport-specific training experiences? Personally I started training in the 7th grade, and have continued ever since. Professionally I have 15 years experience. I started training when I was 19, which was 2008. I began interning at the sports performance facility where I trained, EFT Sports Performance. I was fortunate to train alongside many professional athletes from the Chicago Bears and Bulls, a future NFL players from Notre Dame. During my time at Northwestern I worked with the Football teams sports performance department and was a recruiting coordinator. So I have experience in knowing what colleges are looking for in players. Also I still have a few individuals I coached that are with few NFL teams. Current certifications/licenses? Memberships? Associations? I was certified with the National Strength and Conditioning Association as a Certified Strength & Conditioning Specialist. When did you start coaching young athletes? I've been coaching young athletes since 2011. I've coached ages from 4th grade till professional athletes. I've worked with an array of athletes from various sports like football, volleyball, hockey, lacrosse, track and baseball. I always wanted to give back, and help the new generation of athletes be successful within their sport, and help them do that through a solid foundation that focuses on mechanics and injury prevention. Where do you hold your camps/clinics? I hold camps at JLT Performance in Hollywood, CA or Pan Pacific Park in Los Angeles, CA. I'm also reaching out to Fairfax High School about using their football field when hosting camps and clinics. I've worked alongside some of the best coaches, trainers, and athletes in the country. Through my experience I have taken those skills to develop a systematic approach that not only helps them improve their overall athleticism, and decrease injury, while giving them insight of to get to the next level of their athletic career.!
